Why go to the middle of nowhere when you could go to the middle of London? said the advertisements for the dockland's authority in 1981.
When I came to London in 1980 it looked totally different but this is another major success of the Thatcher government.
To walk round today, one would not believe how it was at the beginning of the 1980s.
A piece of London that is off the tourist route yet should be added. A journey on the DLR is a wonderful experience of urban rejuvenation.
And the music is from Live and Let Die when Bond is going 'uptown' in New York. I thought the image apt!

From Warsaw to Tel Aviv - Z Warszawy do Tel Awiwie

My Christmas - New Year holidays were taken in Israel and this is the first part which describes the journey from Warsaw to Tel Aviv.
An empty airport and a detour via Krakow not mentioned on the internet site were parts of the highlights, not to mention me taking my trousers off at the check in desk.
I felt sorry for the staff there - they had to hang around for one flight to Israel when they should have been enjoying their Christmas with their families. But that is the air travel business for you!

This is the first film I have subtitled speech. It takes a while to do so I may not always be bothered to do it!

Tira الطـّيرة

Tira is an almost exclusively Arab town close to the border with the West Bank and quite close to Netanya and Petva Tikva.
This visit took place on a Friday morning so we were fortunate to hear the call to the mosque as well as enjoy an excellent shoarma.

Ściana Płaczu - The Western Wall

Ściana Płaczu (Mur Zachodni) jest jedyną zachowaną pozostałością Świątyni Jerozolimskiej i jest najświętsze miejsce judaizmu. Zachowane mury są fragmentem drugiej świątyni.





I had an interesting experience. We tried to get in but two policemen or military stopped us but very nicely.
My friend noticed that one had beads (I do not know what they are called) - it may have been a rosary and said 'You are a Christian, so am I.'
And he gave her the beads. It was a very nice little gesture. I wish I had recorded it.

Warsaw's move west

The new Warsaw as one leaves in a south westerly direction. Foreign investment has very much financed this growth as is demonstrated here.

Polanica Zdroj

Polanica Zdroj is a health resort in the south of Poland, cery close to the border with the Czech Republic. It has been a spa town for over 100 years and still boasts some fine end of nineteenth century architecture.
